It was created by Prem Prakash on December 9, 1971. As of 2019, it is the largest news agency in India; Smita Prakash is the editor in chief and is married to the CEO, Sanjiv Prakash.
ANI: Automatic Number Identification
ANI (Automatic Number Identification) is a service that provides the recipient of a phone call with the number of the calling phone. The service provider determines the method of providing this information (such as AT&T, MCI, Sprint, etc.). Automatic Number Identification was originally developed to simplify the billing process for telephone operators, Rather than manually requesting the originating phone number for a phone call. The service is generally provided by sending DTMF (multi-frequency digital tone) tones along with the call.
